November 29, 2022(1 event) – 6.30pm - 8.30pm (people will probably stay later!) This event will take place at the usual venue for our monthly Pint Amongst Friends event, the Spread Eagle in Croydon, this time celebrating the (two-year-long) twentieth anniversary of geocaching with the local caching community. Our venue is just a few minutes' walk from both East and West Croydon railway stations, and various bus routes and the Croydon Tramlink pass close by, so getting here by public transport is pretty easy. Parking may be less straightforward in this area. Food is available at the venue throughout the period of the event. The Pint Amongst Friends event takes place monthly, usually towards the end of the month and on a Tuesday. Everyone is welcome, so come along for a relaxed chat over a drink and/or food. If this is your first event (it was mine, long before I took over running it!), I know walking around a pub looking for people you don't know can seem a little daunting so please do let me know in advance or message me through my profile if you would like a friendly face to meet you outside. Community Celebration Events - 2020 This Event is part of a limited release of Community Celebration Events to celebrate 20 years of geocaching. Geocachers hosted events between May 2, 2020 and December 31, 2022. Learn more about Community Celebration Events on the Geocaching Blog. |
November 30, 2022(1 event) – Come join us at The Sherlock Holmes, Northumberland Avenue, for our less than six months-to-go until London Calling 2023 meetup! Considering our theme this time around, we couldn't ask for a better-named venue. We'll be aiming to launch the official side events during this very event, so you can pick the Committee's brains about what's going on with those and generally about the Mega, in addition to all the usual things like catching up with other cachers, swapping trackables and so on. This is a very special "Tour" event - because we're doing it in Westminster, near to our first side event from London Calling 2021 and not too far from that Mega venue either. The London Calling 2023 Committee are going on tour! We didn't get to do this much during the run-up to our first Mega, so we're very pleased we can get out and about and see lots of local cachers around the country and the world! If you're considering attending our London Mega, then please take a looking at the listing here: GC9MAXX |
December 1, 2022(1 event) – We shall be at The Toby carvery on Thursday 1st December 2022 from 6.15pm until 8pm and will have the small area (up a couple of steps) in the far corner overlooking the station opposite. This will be our get together before Christmas although I'm sure many of us will meet up elsewhere before Christmas! This is an opportunity to meet with fellow geocachers and chat about all things caching and otherwise! Discover and swap trackables and put faces to those names in the log books. Hopefully, come and find answers to those questions we all have!!! Unsolved puzzles.... maybe bring them along to see if someone else can help with them. If you're new to caching and unsure, contact us through our profile and we can meet you at the door! Food readily available as this is a Toby!!! The nearest train station is Eden Park (directly opposite the pub) which is only 20-25 minutes from London Bridge. There is a large car park to the rear of the pub. |
December 2, 2022(1 event) – .. an obvious attempt at qualifying for a challenge. I need an event that ticks a few boxes and instead of hoping for a suitable one to pop up, I decided to go goldpot and organise one for myself. If you're in the area at lunchtime, come join me on the little dead end road at the end of the graffiti tunnel. |
December 3, 2022(1 event) – A new geo-London-trip. Let's meet at Christchurch Gardens ans have a talk about geocaching. I will bring some TBs to swap and some belgian chocolate

December 7, 2022(2 events) – WELCOME! To Mrs Watson and Stevenson's math bootcamp event! Giddy up children! Joking, of course there will be solving puzzles involved whether it is the impossible puzzles from Australia or impossible Chinese ones (if your going there for any reason) or any London puzzles which you need help with. We really love maths so math puzzles would be great! If you want, I can even teach you algebraic equations or maybe even tau! – Welcome to my Community Celebration event. Join me in the Metropolitan Bar at Baker Street Station on Wednesday, 7th December 2022 from 4:45pm to 7:00pm, and probably beyond. I'd originally planned to hold this event way back on 5th May 2020 to celebrate day 1000 of my Geo-streak however the world had other plans! Then it would have been one of the first Celebration Events, now its one of the last. With the end of the year fast approaching come and celebrate your caching adventures of the past year and future plans for 2023. Look for an announcement on the day of where I'm located in this large and popular venue.

December 10, 2022(1 event) – Come along to a beach party ...in December to celebrate 20 (plus ) years of geocaching. Join us on the sandy beach at scenic Ruislip Lido between 11am and 1pm on Saturday 10 December for a chat and a picnic to celebrate 2 decades of geocaching. Bring your food, hot drinks, deckchairs, picnic blankets, sunglasses, flip flops...rain gear, thermal underwear and woolly hats (delete as appropriate). There will also be a sandcastle building competion for those who wish to take part. (Please bring your own buckets, spades, and flags/shell decorations if you wish build a sandcastle). Judging will take place at 12.30 with prizes for tallest, and most memorable. Please wear appropriate clothing for an outdoor event in December, though we would encourage you to add beach related gear and/or Christmas themed gear if you wish, for extra atmosphere/fun. Nearby there is a cafe selling hot food, and there are toilets and a children's playground. Please note that the lido water is not deemed suitable for swimming/paddling, as shown by the red flags flying on the beach. If it is raining, we will gather under the nearby large green metal wet weather shelter instead. There is a car park (£3 all day fee) and H13 bus stop @ 7 minutes walk away on the other side of the lido. The path round to the beach is wheelchair accessible (though there is a steep concrete slope in one place) but there is a single step down to the actual beach. Alternatively you can walk on footpaths through the woods from the south, to access the lido near to Woody Bay minature railway station.

December 14, 2022(1 event) – When: December 14 2022, 11am - 1pm Where: Livat at Hammersmith (the new name for Kings Mall). There is a tiered seating area behind a well known Swedish flatpack shop and between a well known "little" German grocery store. This is an inside event in a public space so no need to worry if it's pouring or even snowing. Why: Come at celebrate St Lucia Day or Lucia Dagen a day late (I have to work on the real day). In Sweden, the rest of Scandinavia, and Italy, St Lucia Day is a feast day celebrated on 13 December. The observance commemorates Lucia of Syracuse, an early-4th-century martyr who, according to legend, brought food and aid to Christians hiding in the Roman catacombs. She wore a candle lit wreath on her head to light her way and leave her hands free to carry as much food as possible. Her feast day is widely celebrated as a festival of light. How: Hammersmith is well served by all sorts of public transport. From either the train stations or the bus station, it's just a short walk. You can get to the public area by following the Livat Mall around or walking through the Swedish shop. If it's snowing, you can ski or snowshoe in. Hammersmith is by the river so it's also possible to boat, swim, or wade. Dangerous animals and plants may be available to buy nearby.
